Mathru Experience

The Mathru School wishes to provide its students with a home-like environment with a touch of a mother’s affection. Not only do the students receive an education that meets and exceeds national requirements, the students learn skills that will enable them to become independent, develop their talents, and most importantly, realize their self-worth.

When a student first enters the school, the teachers and staff determine what daily living skills he or she already has. Most of the time, the students do not know much because they were often neglected. We ask the student to brush their teeth, wash their face, put on their clothes, etc. Before the student enters the classroom, we teach him or her the daily living skills he or she needs (how to walk, posture, eating, etc). Once the student shows significant progress in his or her hygiene, posture, eating, toilet manners, and behavioral manners, the student is brought to the classroom to learn. Teaching daily living skills does not stop there. In the classroom, the instructors constantly correct the student’s manners and actions.

The instructors at Mathru teach most of the daily living skills. Ms. Muktha primarily works on posture and behavioral manners. Furthermore, the Mathru School teaches the students mobility skills so that they can find their way around the building without assistance.
